The information here is presented from the point-of-view of the able-bodied companion of a person who uses a wheelchair. This site was built by Monty Johnson, a 62-year-old, able-bodied man, who started traveling with Margaret Jakobson during summer of 1999. Margaret travels a lot with her job; in addition we tend to take a lot of personal trips. Margaret contracted polio at age 4 years and now she can not walk at all and uses a power wheelchair whenever possible, although she uses a manual wheelchair around the house and trip on an airplane. She requires an attendant for any trip on an airplane or whenever she uses her manual wheelchair over a distance greater than about 100 feet.
